Overview: It is found that students seeking job after passing the exams are confused since there is disconnect between what they have been doing as a student and what they are expected after joining a company. To bridge the disconnect for smooth sailing of the students this programme has been designed .
During the programme the participants will be conversed with familiarisation of industry, importance of power of communication and presentation skill, essentials of public speaking and overcoming stage fear, the ways of managing time effectively , how to be the best and interviewing skills.
These topics will be covered through presentation, exercises, role play , demonstration and rehearsalsetc so that participants get through the interview and get a respectful job.
In addition ,the students will learn the technique of writing good resume and the method of company search technique. During the programme they will also learn to make use of jobportals like naukri.com and monster.com
Awareness of industry
After the completion of the degree, a student becomes a fresher for any company he/she joins. That particular company is a part of an industry which has a typical way of functioning. For example, someone joins TCS, Its an IT company and It as an industry has its own ways of functioning and it is recommended that a student is aware of the ways and functions which are undertaken by various IT companies. Same is applicable for other companies which fall under industries like the Automobile, Manufacturing, IT,ITES, Service industry etc
Improvement in communication and presentation skill
When a student joins any company, he/she is supposed to communicate in a manner which is expected in the industry. It is not just about English, it is actually about self expression and making a reputation among your colleagues and seniors. You will be expected to deliver presentations which may be technical or sales oriented in nature, where again, you will need not just good English but good convincing abilities along with eloquence to answer few queries which others will raise. It can be mastered with more practice given that you have the right tools.
Becoming Job ready
The college /university has a very important role in providing you the right education and giving you a platform where the companies will come and pick you for campus placements. The big question is, are you ready to be placed? Now a days the companies are not selecting students only on the basis of academic record, they are rather looking for a student who is competent in all areas. Interview is a process where the student is assessed for his abilities and checked if the student is a suitable match for future job role which the company is offering. Again, its not just the technical knowledge, but it’s the technical knowledge along with aptitude and right attitude(communication, problem solving, risk taking, decision making etc ). Resume is a reflection of your abilities which will be seen by an employer. As a fresher , you must highlight your educational competence, project in final year, internship, extra curricular activities like sports, drama ,acting etc. Also mention your participation in debate and group discussions, extempore or if you got a chance to organize any of the events like the annual function etc. Keep it short and specific.
